Each data sheet includes the substance's name at the top of the page, followed by six categories of information:
Chemical identifiers. Common ID numbers, the NFPA and DOT labels for the chemical, and a general description of the chemical. See definitions for these identifiers
Hazards. Air and water reactions, fire hazard, health hazard, a reactivity profile, and special hazard alerts. See definitions for the hazard information
Response recommendations. Covers firefighting, non-fire response, protective clothing, and first aid. See definitions of these recommendations
Physical properties. Includes properties such as vapor pressure and boiling point, along with explosive limits and toxic levels of concern "Threshold concentration" of an airborne pollutant, usually the concentration above which a hazard to people is believed to exist. (toxic exposure guidelines). See definitions of these properties
Regulatory information. Lists U.S. regulations applying to the chemical along with threshold quantities defined by regulations for the chemical. See definitions and background information about this information
Alternate chemical names. Trade names, synonyms, and names in Spanish, French, and other languages used for the chemical.
Data source notations. Each piece of information about a chemical comes from an authoritative data source. A notation next to a piece of information indicates the source of the information. See a list of source notations
